April 21, 2010, computers were rebooting on their own. The reason was one of McAfee’s software updates. It triggered the anti-virus software to identify a harmless file as malicious, however, it did not work. This McAfee glitch lasted 2 days, causing a lot of problems for hospitals, schools, and companies.
Here is how to fix this issue:
- Click to Start -> Run and type cmd (command prompt). In command prompt type: shutdown -a
- Click to Start -> Programs -> McAfee & Disable both the Access Protection and On-Access Scanner
- Go to Quarantine Manager within McAfee still, and restore files by right-clicking and click restore
- Right-click My Computer, click Manage, and click service on left window. Make sure both Remote Procedure Call (RPC) services are running
- Start or restart the Mcafee Framework service
- In the McAfee program, select Tools -> Rollback DATs and Reboot
If you’re still having computer issues, there is a possibility that your registry or network services might have to be tweaked, and you should call computer repair company.
