April 21, 2010, computers were rebooting on their own. The reason was one of McAfee’s software updates. It triggered the anti-virus software to identify a harmless file as malicious, however, it did not work.   This McAfee glitch lasted 2 days, causing a lot of problems for hospitals, schools, and companies.

Here is how to fix this issue:

  • Click to Start -> Run and type cmd (command prompt). In command prompt type:  shutdown -a
  • Click to Start -> Programs -> McAfee & Disable both the Access Protection and On-Access Scanner
  • Go to Quarantine Manager within McAfee still, and restore files by right-clicking and click restore
  • Right-click My Computer, click Manage, and click service on left window.  Make sure both Remote Procedure Call (RPC) services are running
  • Start or restart the Mcafee Framework service
  • In the McAfee program, select Tools -> Rollback DATs and Reboot

There are many ways to print a document, but you can print a document quickly if you put a shortcut to the printer on your desktop and drag a document icon to it, no need to open file for printing just drag a file to printer icon and get your print.

To do this, first click Start button, Settings, then Printers ( first make sure you installed your printer driver). When the Printers window opens, hold down Ctrl and drag the printer icon to your system desktop.

Now you can drag a document icon and drop it in printer icon on your desktop. Here you will get a print quickly and with out open a file.
